There’s not much time left to complete the admissions process and financial aid applications before next semester so time is of the essence. EOC staff assists students to attend various postsecondary schools and GED programs and are always available to help these students. There are several new resources available this term that will benefit some students, including free tuition and $100 book stipends for first time college students without financial aid to cover costs and financial aid packages that enable middle and lower income individuals to attend private colleges and universities. The EOC expects to add intensive tutoring services for students enrolled in GED classes anywhere in the Memphis area during the coming semester and is working with numerous service providers to identify, develop and access resources for adult students. Please have individuals interested in going back to school call the EOC at 333-6048 to set an appointment as soon as possible or tell them to drop by the Center at 5390 Mendenhall Square at the corner of Mendenhall and Winchester in southeast Memphis. The Center is open from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday all summer and we will work at community sites and set individual appointments in the evenings on a limited basis.
Potential students must bring a copy of their 2007 income tax return so that we can get their financial aid applications submitted immediately. The clock is ticking.
