Education Consultant (II)
CAC Education Consultants provide group training and individual consultation to primarily adult audiences toward prevention of child sexual abuse and appropriate reporting. Education Consultants are Community Awareness Team members and engage in activities toward general community awareness about the CAC and the issue of child sexual abuse.
- Provide training to adults on sexual abuse prevention using the Darkness to Light Stewards of Children model.
- Provide training primarily to adults, and to some select child audiences, using Project Be Safe curriculum. (Training for parents is generally focused on child sexual abuse; training for child-serving professionals encompasses both sexual and physical abuse).
- Promote and provide expert consultation to child-serving professionals and other community members on case-specific scenarios and on best practice policy, toward prevention, appropriate reporting and intervention.
- Develop marketing strategy for education to include direct community outreach, interactive and online marketing. Work closely with Community Relations Associate, Education Consultant, other Community Awareness Team members, and volunteer Ambassadors to implement.
- Develop and implement a specific strategy to reach target audiences with Stewards of Children training.
- Reach out to new and necessary partners to create a network to provide training to adults, including training proposals/agreements for partnering organizations.
- Initiate proactive relationship building to leverage CAC contacts to meet education goals.
- Conduct systematic outreach to CAC corporate contacts to generate opportunities for parent trainings within the workplace.
- Work with Community Awareness Team on campaigns and events including Child Abuse Prevention Month and Children’s Memorial Flag Raisings; serve as lead staff on some activities.
- Evaluate and expand partnerships with pediatricians/family practice physicians toward reaching parents with educational information.
- Develop and provide customized trainings tailored to the needs of various target audiences.
- Serve as one of the CAC’s media spokespeople on education/prevention topics.
- Participate in targeted community expos/exhibits.
- Participate in proposal development and meetings with potential education program funders.
- Provide public awareness presentations and agency tours for community groups.
- Be a positive participant in Community Awareness Team, Education Services, and agency-wide activities.
- As this program develops, there will be changes in specific duties but always in alliance with the CAC vision and the strategic plan.
Supervision received from: Associate Director
Position Requirements: Bachelors degree, preferably in Social Work, Sociology or Psychology, or Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations. Experience in the field of child abuse preferred. Polished, effective communicator, verbal and written. Public speaking experience is a must, preferably in the context of providing adult education/training. Sales/marketing experience a plus. Willingness to perform a variety of tasks ranging from administrative to leadership roles. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Graphic design skills a plus. Must be available for evening and weekend presentations as requested. Must have a car and valid driver’s license. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
