Duties:
Conduct intermediate professional level independent audits of departments to determine the effectiveness of financial, administrative and operational controls; the reliability of accounting and other data; and the extent of compliance with federal, state and local regulations and standards and Division polices and procedures, in accordance with Institute of Internal Auditor (IIA) Standards.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Must have 2 years experience in auditing techniques and practices. Professional certification recognized by the Institute of Internal Auditor (IIA) preferred. Must have skills in computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet packages, presentations, and audit software applications; and a working knowledge of personal computer-based operating systems. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.
Works in office majority of time under good conditions. Subject to field audits.

JOB TITLE: ELECTRONICS COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN
DUTIES:
Install, maintain, test and repair the Division’s two-way radio communication system, color video recording equipment and other diversified electronic equipment; locate electronic interference. Operate infrared scanner to perform heat surveys of transmission/ distribution/network systems and substations; locate and report equipment/components over-heating such as transformers, switches and capacitor banks; recheck completed maintenance repairs.
Associate degree in Electrical, Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering Technology. Must successfully complete Color Blind I Test. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 004 “Electronics Technicians”)/Performance Exercises. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.
Works in shop and outside. Works in proximity of electrical equipment in substations and walk-in/underground vaults. Subject to medium lifting, climbing ladders, working with chemicals and standing for extended periods. May work from bucket truck.

CONTROLLER
Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division is a publicly-owned utility serving over 420,000 customers in Shelby County. It is the nation’s largest three-service utility. The utility provides a full range of customer-oriented services, including a major role in the city and region’s economic development. MLGW is seeking a Controller to direct and oversee the Division’s accounting activities and departments engaged in general/plant accounting, budgeting and utility rate management; and monitor and coordinate departmental work with internal departments and various external entities to meet Division objectives and compliance with city/state and federal government regulations.
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or a Master’s of Accountancy or a Master’s of Business Administration. A Certified Public Accountant license (CPA) is preferred. Must have 8-10 years of progressive experience in one or more of the following functions: corporate-wide budgeting, general/plant accounting, and/or rate management. Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one (1) year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license from the state of residence.

GRANT FUNDED POSITION – WITH CITY BENEFITS
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of an assigned supervisor. Provides technical assistance to homeowners who apply for rehabilitation programs. Conducts initial detailed inspection of house including structural, mechanical, wiring, plumbing, lead paint hazard, and exterior of houses to identify housing code violations and property improvement requirements; measures house, prepares rough sketch, examines check list, and takes photographs. Compiles data and writes up construction specification or bid document including cost estimates and Lead Paint hazard attenuation. Conducts weekly inspection of construction projects to ensure conformance to contract agreement and building, lead paint, and housing code regulations; approves partial and final payments; provides counseling assistance, negotiates contract changes and solves contract disputes between homeowner and contractor which require a high level of tact, diplomacy and persuasiveness.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires ability to make all types of installation inspections including electrical, mechanical and plumbing. Must be able to climb on roof, under house and in attic. Requires ability to operate automobile and construction inspection tools such as measuring tape and level.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general supervision of the Human Resources Coordinator to ensure all Memphis Public Library and InformationCenter employees receive accurate pay and benefits in a timely manner and in compliance with federal and state laws. Communicates with internal and external contacts to acquire accurate employee information needed to complete work processes, i.e. forms, reports, etc. Researches, monitors, calculates, and responds to information/inquiries in the Oracle database concerning all Library employee personnel status, i.e., salary, paid leave availability, pension payouts, and date of employment. Prepares, processes, and maintains all Library employee personnel forms, including On-the-job injuries, Change Authorizations, Separation, and Request to Fill forms. Performs payroll functions: verifies the accuracy of calculations, postings, and data entry in the payroll process, such as distributed time on the payroll system and final pay. Researches and resolves payroll and FLSA payroll system problems. Utilizes the Oracle database to verify the accuracy of FLSA pay, out of rank, and overtime expenses, including running programs and creating reports. Reviews, enters, and processes completed timesheets into the payroll database. Advises Library employees/management of payroll procedures and policies. Sorts and distributes employee payroll checks. Coordinates the employment process for the Library’s Benjamin Hooks location and the Library’s Human Resources satellite office. Provides administrative and informational support to current employees and retirees on key issues related to individual employee benefits and retirement compensation. Prepares management timesheets and distributes to all Library departments and branch managers. Conducts paid leave research for managers. Communicates with Benefits Office to process Library employee retirements. Processes all Library employee family medical leave requests by generating official notification documents for employees and the City of Memphis Equal Employment Opportunity office. Processes all Library employee family medical leave requests and advises employees of family medical leave policies and procedures. Prepares reimbursement reports for management of employees funded by grants to ensure compliance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general direction of the Animal Services Administrator or designated supervisor to provide first line supervision of daily activities of the animal shelter, participate in major operations and planning decisions, and serve as Manager in his/her absence. Supervises sheltering activities to ensure that animals are properly housed, fed, and cared for in a clean and sanitary environment. Uses computerized program to monitor and track kennel inventory, impound, licensing, and rabies quarantine procedures. Maintains necessary animal records and complies with City ordinances and shelter policies on the care and disposition of animals including adoptions, redemptions, euthanasia, and when needed, the collection of fines and revenues from these activities. Monitors maintenance of building; maintains inventory and orders supplies for the daily operation of the shelter. Approves work schedules, trains and consults with employees and other supervisors regarding City and Bargaining Unit Personnel policies and regulations. Performs public relations duties including handling complaints from occasionally irate customers and attends meetings with civic groups or the media to provide information about shelter activities.
