        Position:  Emergency Services Food Pantry Social Worker

Part-time, M – F; starting range $13/hour

 Position summary

Responsible for the intake and distribution of food voucher requests.

 Qualifications

  1. Associate’s degree
    One to two years’ social services experience plus two to four years’ clerical, customer service, or administrative experience
  2. Leadership and professional skills
    Experience coordinating and executing multiple tasks and projects
    Experience coordinating operational systems in a fast-paced environment with frequent    interruptions
    People skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
    Ability to complete duties on schedule with little or no supervision
    Proficiency with communication systems including computers, email, netbooks, telephone software, scanners, Microsoft Office, and various database systems
  3. Ability to handle client information confidentially and discreetly
  4. Familiarity with Shelby County street system

 Essential functions and responsibilities

  1. Screen clients and coordinate food pantry sites to ensure availability and quality
    1. Screen clients for qualifying documentation professionally and respectfully
    2. Contact area food pantries to verify food quantity, hours of operation, and the number of clients they can serve
    3. Authorize food vouchers via fax and mail
    4. Answer and respond to phone calls in a timely manner to ensure prompt service delivery to clients and vendors, while maintaining the food pantry workstation
      1. Screen phone calls and gather information for food voucher issuance
      2. Maintain a functional food pantry workstation
      3. Maintain food pantry database to monitor clients
        1. Enter client data from various networking agencies to support approval of food voucher requests
        2. Enter daily audits of food pantry availability and number of clients served
        3. Consult with food pantry coordinator to enhance the quality of service
        4. Troubleshoot, make corrections, and monitor accuracy of database entries
        5. Maintain on-site food pantry for walk-in clients

         Position:  System Support Specialist

Full-time, M-F; annual starting range $35,360-$40,000

 Position summary

The systems support specialist is responsible for providing the first contact for users requiring support or technical computer systems assistance, proper documentation and correction of problems, and operations procedures to support the computing environment.

 Qualifications

  1. A minimum associate’s degree in management information systems or related field is preferred accompanied by two years’ relevant experience in an MIS environment. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  2. Knowledge of program business functions, strategies, and goals
  3. Knowledge of the standards, methods, and techniques of the data/information management field to provide technical expertise and advice
  4. Working knowledge of personal computer operating systems, networking systems, and applications software
  5. Knowledge of the concepts, methods, and techniques of business and systems analysis to develop appropriate models of operational requirements
  6. Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of project management
  7. Analytical/problem solving, leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  8. Working knowledge of Microsoft Networking System administration and administration of Microsoft Exchange Server in a multi-server, multi-node environment

Essential functions and responsibilities

Project management—To be responsible for implementation, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.

Network system administration—Perform regular system administration including adding/removing users, securing rights to shared network services, data and resources, installation of network–based software and systems components. Serve as telephone/voicemail systems administrator.

Systems support—Provide first-line end-user support to internal MIFA customers related to information management systems and technology, including database support, internet services, and the local area network. Provide technical guidance, advice, and training to system users. Installs new versions of personal computer software. Responsible with the rest of the IT staff for maintenance and operation of the help desk tracking system.

IT operations—Manage regularly scheduled backup resources including daily backups and fiscal period backups of program information systems. Conduct weekly restore tests to determine accuracy of backups.

        Position:  Clerical Support   

Part-Time, 20 hours/week, M-F; starting rate $9/hour

 Position summary

This position assists both the Senior Companion program manager and the director of special events with correspondence, with emphasis on SCP program and volunteer events

 Qualifications

  1. High school diploma
  2. Two years’ experience in data processing and secretarial work
  3. Experience in coordinating and executing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  4. Ability to quickly engage and cultivate relationships with a diverse base of individuals and groups
  5. Ability to use email and other correspondence tools to communicate with clients and partners
  6. Ability to support recognition events and presentations
  7. Proficiency with communication systems such as telephone, fax, Microsoft Office programs, and database systems
  8. Ability to type 45 words per minute and operate a 10-key calculator
  9. Ability to organize material and communicate effectively

Essential functions and responsibilities

  1. Provide support for Senior Companion program staff
  2. Support pre-screening and interviewing processes for the Senior Companion program
  3. Coordinate ordering, auditing, inventorying, tracking, distributing, and reporting for volunteer meals
  4. Enter volunteer applications in The Raiser’s Edge for the Senior Companion program
  5. Support the program’s paycheck process by alphabetizing and inventorying checks, preparing and photocopying timesheets, and preparing a monthly communication
  6. Maintain active and inactive files of all program participants
  7. Answer telephone calls in a pleasant manner
