JOB TITLE: Water Laboratory Specialist I
Duties: Collect water and test water samples; perform microbiological and/or chemical tests; maintain related computerized records; and comply with federal, state, and local rules, regulations and standards on drinking water.
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, General Science or a related field. Must have knowledge and skills in chemical and/or bacteriological testing included in the drinking water regulations. Must obtain a Grade IV Water Treatment Operator’s License from the State of Tennessee Board of Water and Waste Water certification and complete hazardous Waste Materials Training (29 CFR 1910.120) within 2-1/2 years of entering job. Must be certified annually under the Safe Drinking Water Act, Public Law 93-523, Section 1401. Must pass the Color Blind I Test. Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one year of entering job. Must have skills in computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.
Works inside and outside. Subject to climbing stairs, hazards of falls, weather, light lifting, working with chemicals, and discriminating colors during testing process.
JOB TITLE: Offset Press Operator
Duties: Set-up, adjust and operate offset presses, graphics art process camera, copier and inserter machines; receive, prepare for copying e-mailed documents, utility bills and other documents utilizing high speed computerized copiers; prepare layouts and operate various auxiliary machines.
Must have knowledge of precision measurement. Must successfully complete Color Blind II Test. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 009 “Instrument Mechanics I”)/ Performance Exercises. Must have knowledge/skills in Offset Press Operations. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.
Works in Print Shop. Subject to hazards of machine operation, noise, paper dust and chemicals. Performs physical activities such as heavy lifting/ carrying, climbing, reaching, standing for extended periods, bending and stooping. Shift work required.
Candidates accepting Employment with MLGW must live and maintain their residence within the boundaries of Shelby county, tennessee within six months of their employment date.
