Job Title: Non-Medical Case Manager    Job Classification: FT/Non-Exempt

Department: Supportive Services            Reports To: Executive Director

Position Overview

The Friends For Life Corporation Non-Medical Case Manager will ensure that consumers are provided with direct clinical support services, information, advocacy, and appropriate and necessary referrals to other applicable network providers in order to facilitate the consumers medical adherence and to empower those affected by HIV/AIDS to optimize their longevity and quality of life. The Non-Medical Case Manager coordinates care and services of consumer populations across the continuum of care network.

Essential Job Functions

Clinical duties include initial assessment, development of a Wellness Plan, and implementation of Wellness Plan through appropriate follow-up contacts. Establish and continually improve the provision of professional, comprehensive, and effective HIV services for all consumers and affected individuals. Provide leadership and direction consistent with program philosophy and policy. Meet regularly in individual and/or group supervision to: Ensure that services are being provided to meet the needs of consumers and affected individuals; Ensure that appropriate communication is occurring with agency representatives and affected individuals; Review Wellness Plan relationships and progress; Ensure that Wellness Plan steps are being implemented; Provide Case Management leadership in all matters that address HIV issues.  Manage a caseload of 50 to 80 service consumers monthly. Conduct outreach at homeless shelters, behavioral health hospitals, alcohol and drug treatment facilities, correction facilities, housing programs and other places where persons with HIV/AIDS may be receiving services.  Serve as a HIV tester as needed or directed.  Provide case management as needed in the Wellness Plan to eliminate barriers. Attend monthly meetings of the Greater Memphis Interagency Coalition for the Homeless. Attend monthly meetings of the MidSouth Coalition on HIV/AIDS. Serve on the Coalition’s Case Management Subcommittee.  Maintain ongoing contact with possible referral sources. Perform data entry in the CAREWare Database System. Perform Ryan White recertification for consumers. 24-hour on-call availability could be required. Other duties as assigned.

Non-essential Job Functions

Represent the Agency at outreach fairs as needed or directed. Assist in planning and developing programs and services.

Preferred Requirements

Individuals with a Master’s degree in Social Work or closely related health or human services discipline with the equivalency of one year of fulltime professional case management in a public service agency serving individuals affected by HIV/AIDS preferred. Bilingual Spanish and English preferred – must be able to demonstrate fluency.


Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor level degree in Social Work and equivalency of one year of full time professional case management in a public service agency. – or – A Bachelor level degree in a health or human services related discipline with the equivalency of two years full time professional case management in a public service agency. Two years experience working with persons with HIV/AIDS preferred. Demonstrated fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.  Must have own transportation. Excellent communication skills. Excellent negotiation skills. An ability to work well with all types of people.  Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.  Regular and predictable attendance is necessary.  Maintain confidential information and adhere to all policies and procedures regarding Protected Health Information(PHI).


Other Skills/Abilities.

The ability to work well in a fast paced environment.

Physical Demands

Extended periods of standing and sitting. The ability to lift 20 -25 lbs as needed.

A partnership between the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, the Memphis Housing Authority and the United Way of the Mid-South led to the creation of RISE in October 1999. With its original mission to help public housing residents achieve financial independence, and on a first year budget of only $22,000, RISE served 48 families and helped them create assets of $83,000.

Since that time, RISE has provided over 450 families with financial information that has assisted them with purchasing their first large assets, encouraged over 500 youth to excel in school, improved the money management skills of over 1,600 area employees, and brought together more than 130 organizations to address predatory lending practices and educate citizens about ways to avoid costly alternative lending traps. To date, RISE’s work has created over $5.9 million in assets in the City of Memphis. Reporting to the President and CEO, the Director of Development serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting RISE. In partnership with the President and CEO, this position is responsible for all fundraising and marketing activities. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build RISE’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Director of Development will also design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support. The Director of Development will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow a $2M budget through the solicitation of major gifts, grants, and corporate support. The Director of Development will expand and diversify RISE’s donor base and work closely with the Board of Directors as they take on a more active fundraising role. It is expected that the amount raised by RISE will increase in future years as the Director of Development systematically and effectively strengthens the organization’s overall fundraising capacity. Additionally, the Director of Development will be responsible for integrating marketing into the development plan supporting the programs and activities of the organization.



Support and partner with the President and CEO and board members on all major fundraising and marketing initiatives.  Meet regularly with the President and CEO to provide leadership on vision and strategy for resource development.  Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include individual, corporate, and foundation support, as well as communications efforts.  Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to develop and implement RISE’s financial and program strategies.  Actively work with board members to engage them in major gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts. Research funding sources and trends to help position RISE ahead of major funding changes or trends. Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors.  Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program.  Provide supervision of development and marketing support staff.  Perform other duties as assigned.



Five (5) years or more experience in development and marketing.  Proven track record in major gift fundraising.   Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills.  Demonstrated ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.  Experience working with boards and senior management.  Self-motivated, strong team player, highly organized, high energy.  Strategic thinker.  Ability to prioritize.  Passion for RISE’s unique mission and work.   Willingness to travel locally.  Willingness to spend the majority of time meeting prospective donors or otherwise building relationships.  Knowledge of marketing and communications.  Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent), CFRE preferred.  Knowledge of traditional fundraising software.  Raiser’s Edge knowledge is a plus.


Compensation:  Commensurate with experience. Base salary $50K-$55K annualized.




CONTRACT POSITION:               Trainer


RISE Foundation, Inc., a local nonprofit, empowers individuals to build and sustain financial assets.  We are interested in contracting with experienced teachers/trainers to teach basic personal money management skills to adults and youth in group settings.  Classes are scheduled days, evenings and weekends.


  • Excellent oral and written (spelling, punctuation, grammar) communication skills.
  • Degree in Communications, Education, Finance, Training and Development or related field.
  • Minimum two years full-time experience teaching workshops.
  • Experience working with low to moderate-income citizens.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions as needed.


  • Access to an operable automobile with state-mandated insurance.
  • Access to a personal laptop computer.
