POSITION:  TRUCK DRIVER – (1 Opening)   Salary: $11.08/Hr-Entry; $12.47/Hr-60 Days;

                       $15.25/Hr-5 Months;   General Services/Park Operations    J.O. #12-124

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the direct supervision of assigned supervisor in Park Operations to assist in maintaining the grounds of City Parks:  Drives various types of trucks, ½ ton and up, including stake-type dump trucks; loads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment onto trucks; operates tractor, using specific attachments, to till, cultivate, and grade turf areas, to apply prescribed amounts of lime, fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide, and to mow grounds at designated cut; cuts grass, using hand mower and power mower; uses shovels, rakes, spades, and other tools; performs routine maintenance, such as lubricating, fueling and cleaning equipment; and performs a variety of custodial duties to maintain the grounds of the park.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Requires ability to operate assigned equipment and to engage and disengage attachments.  Requires ability to climb onto equipment.  Must be able to handle various hand tools.  Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting (approx. 50 lbs.)

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Majority of work is performed outdoors exposed to odors, dust, chemicals, and inclement weather.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Ability to understand written and verbal instructions; and experience driving variety of trucks, agricultural tractors, and front-mounted mowers; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.  Must pass tests designated by Human Resources on related equipment, such as 2-ton dump truck with trailer, agricultural tractor, and zero-turn mower, etc.  Must possess a valid Class “B” Tennessee Commercial Driver’s license; and must comply with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Drug testing rules.  Must be available to work weekends.   (Class “B” Driver’s License Required)

POSITION: WASTEWATER COLLECTION FACILITIES ADMINISTRATOR(1 Opening) Annual Salary:

                     $80,924.19 – $100,051.32; Bi-weekly: $3,112.47 – $3,848.13   Public Works-Environmental Maint

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the general direction of Engineering Administrator.  Plans, coordinates, and directs activities concerned with maintenance and inspection of the physical sewer system, flood control, operation and maintenance of sewer lift stations, and storm water management:  Analyzes trends, such as population and industrial growth of area being served to determine adequacy of current facilities and to project demands for future facilities; develops plans to meet expanded demands and requests engineering staff to design and prepare specifications for extended facilities and capacity; directs activities of designated employees who oversee water and sewage facilities; seeks consultants to perform special studies for the department, reviews bids, and makes recommendation for selection; confers with consultants and management personnel to discuss alternatives and to choose most suitable plan on basis of efficiency and cost-effectiveness; communicates with regulatory agencies to resolve any problems and to coordinate projects; inspects field projects to confirm conformance to specifications and government regulations; researches and evaluates new developments in materials, tools, and equipment and recommends or denies purchase; prepares various reports including monthly EPA report; and prepares department budget.  Travels to various facilities to conduct on-site inspections.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Requires ability to inspect work area which may involve traverse on various surfaces including across ditches, river banks, or wooded areas when conducting on-site inspections.  Requires ability to communicate with staff, management, public government agencies, consultants, private contractors, and other City officials.   Requires to ability to operate computer and other office equipment.  Requires the ability to operate an automobile.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in an office environment and outdoors to inspect field projects and to demonstrate new products.  Requires frequent travel throughout the City to inspect working sites.  May be exposure to fumes, other odors, changing weather conditions, and temperatures. Some evening and weekend work required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering and eight (8) years’ experience in environmental engineering with six (6) of the eight (8) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.  Must have a valid driver license.  Must possess a license to practice engineering in the State of Tennessee or a state that has reciprocity with Tennessee.  Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred.  (PROOF OF EDUCATION/DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIRED)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must possess a current valid State of Tennessee Class II Wastewater Collection License or be able to obtain before the end of 24 months of employment as a Waste Collection Facilities Administrator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the direction of a Manager of Recreation Programs in the Park Services Division. Responsible for day-to-day operations of a community center including supervising staff, and developing, planning, organizing, and executing recreational/educational programs that meet the needs of the community; deals frequently with neighborhood associations, local businesses, and the general public to determine recreation interests and needs of all ages; provides training, work direction, assignment of duties, evaluation of work performance, and discipline for assigned personnel; monitors daily expenditures and submits budget proposals to supervisor; maintains daily attendance records and completes payroll documents for assigned employees; maintains daily activity reports; and establishes and maintains a cooperative working relationship with public, volunteers and various civic groups.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1. May teach classes in a specialized recreation activity.

2.May transport participants to different sites throughout the City to participate in various recreational activities.

3. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
