Job Fair connects multicultural candidates to local businesses

 

Memphis, Tenn.- Mid-South area job seekers in search of new career opportunities will be able to connect with local businesses at the 1st Annual Multicultural Job Fair presented by Hilton Memphis on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from noon until 6 p.m. at Hilton Memphis

(939 Ridge Lake Blvd.).  The mission of the job fair is to provide a comprehensive platform for all cultures to achieve their career goals and contribute to a greater Memphis.

 

The event is hosted by ContigoCreative, a Memphis-based boutique marketing and public relations firm that focuses on the Latino and Multicultural markets. Just like pieces of a puzzle, ContigoCreative’s goal is to creatively connect all cultures to positively transform the Memphis community.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision of the designated supervisor, performs or assists in performing routine drilling, sampling, and well installation tasks as well as routine mechanical work necessary to maintain equipment in operating condition.Geotechnology, Inc.

MAJOR DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND AUTHORITY

General

Assists in all phases of drilling activities.

• Opens and reassembles sampling devices.

• Conducts drilling and sampling operations with hand-operated drilling equipment.

• Operates all vehicles capable of over-the-road travel in accordance with all state, federal, and local laws. Must possess a proper commercial driver’s license (Class “A”).

• Follows written corporate safety policy.

• Assists with field surveying or other field engineering activities.

• Performs or assists in routine equipment maintenance and repair.

Environmental

Assists with site mobilization, material handling, and equipment decontamination.

• Assist drill crews with all drilling operations or other activities related to the drilling operation.

• Assists with groundwater recovery or monitoring well development after installation and/or prior to sampling.

• Complies with site-specific and/or corporate health and safety plan.

Geotechnical

Prepares sampling and drilling equipment for use.

• Packages and preserves samples as directed.

• Backfills and repairs pavement at completed borehole sites.

• Performs other duties as requested.

Maintenance & Support

Performs routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment at shop and in field.

• Performs simple to moderately complex repairs to equipment as directed by the Drilling Coordinator.

• Prepares equipment and procures project supplies for future projects.

COMMITTEE DUTIES OR ASSIGNMENTS: May be requested to participate on Total Quality Management (TQM) committees.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the supervision of the appropriate supervisor. Receives supervision and work assignments on a daily basis. Receives specific instructions on company procedures in performing non-routine tests.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSING: Environmental – 40-Hour OSHA Training Certificate and physical certification. CPR and First Aid training. Class “A” CDL. CDL should be obtained within 180 days of hire.

SPECIFICATION SUMMARY: Ability to follow instructions and perform routine field tests. Ability to pass physical exam.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Prior experience preferred but not required.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision of the designated supervisor, directs the work of the testing laboratory. Supervises technicians, provides direction, and coordinates the testing requested by various staff professionals.

MAJOR DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND AUTHORITY

Supervisory

  • Performs laboratory tests and/or reduces laboratory data or supervises others in the use of laboratory computer during data reduction.
  • Attends staff meetings and coordinates testing requirements from various staff professionals.
  • Schedules laboratory staff; trains and motivates laboratory staff.

Laboratory

  • Performs, or supervises the performance of, laboratory tests as assigned.
  • Assists with preparation of cost estimates for testing requirements on Firm projects. Controls budgets on laboratory tests. Reviews test results with staff professionals.
  • Maintains laboratory supply and equipment inventories and recommends purchase of new equipment.
  • Develops or reviews new testing techniques and recommends adoption to management.
  • Maintains standard laboratory testing procedures manual and answers questions about proper application of testing techniques. Reviews all test procedures and test results for quality assurance. Drafts and submits reports to appropriate staff professionals.

SPECIFICATION SUMMARY: Ability to direct the activities of a technical laboratory and manage numerous testing projects concurrently. Working knowledge of soil mechanics and the ability to perform all required tests in a superior fashion is essential.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: Six years of experience in a technical laboratory and a demonstrated organizational and supervisory ability.

  • Must possess good working knowledge of soil mechanics and related field and laboratory testing procedures.
  • Ability to reduce and interpret test data, prepare testing reports, and make oral presentations to staff professionals.
  • Familiarity with basic micro-computers and software programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of laboratory equipment and the ability to repair same.
