POSITION:     ASSISTANT PURCHASING AGENT – (1 Opening) ANNUAL SALARY: $52,603.20 – $81,016.00 BI-WEEKLY: $2,023.20 – $3,116.00     Finance/Purchasing       J.O. #14-103 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the direction of the Purchasing Agent in the Finance Division to control purchasing specifications and prepare comprehensive documents for obtaining products, equipment and services.  Provides daily supervision and training to purchasing staff which includes contract analysts, fixed assets coordinator and a purchasing specialist.  Reviews, writes, and edits specification sets.  Prepares contract amendments, extensions, options, change orders and negotiated contracts.  Oversees and coordinates sales preparations.  Obtains bids and awards contracts on common items to several divisions.  Controls contract purchase and extension options.  Monitors supplier performance and sets goals on minority spending.    Provides a weekly written report on minority spending to management.  Conducts weekly contract sessions and interviews prospective bidders.  Monitors and resolves problems with contracts and reports back to the appropriate parties.  Maintains bid lists and sales lists.  Gathers data to generate reports of City of Memphis spending patterns and recommends opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency.  Creates and compiles various reports and memorandums by utilizing various Microsoft applications.   Interacts and communicates verbally and in writing with suppliers, vendors, management, and staff on a variety of issues and concerns. 

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  1. Acts as backup for the Purchasing Agent as needed.
  2. Performs training for Divisions and Suppliers as needed.
  3. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the use of equipment such as computer, printer, calculator, telephone and fax machine.  Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing with management, staff, vendors and City Officials.  Must be able to lift boxes of files up to 20 lbs.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed generally in an office environment; however, visits to field location may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting/ Law or related field and five (5) years of purchasing experience with two (2) of the five (5) years in government finance or budgeting and three (3) years in a supervisory capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.  Working knowledge of Oracle Financial Applications, specifically purchasing preferred.  Experience utilizing Microsoft Applications and purchasing procedures preferred.

 

POSITION:     CONSERVATOR – (1 Opening) ANNUAL SALARY: $31,220.80 – $46,508.80 BI-WEEKLY: $1,200.80 – $1,788.80   Parks & Neighborhoods/Pink Palace Museum       J.O. #14-104 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general guidance of the Manager of Collection in the care of prehistoric and historic artifacts, archival objects, and geological and biological specimens in the collections or on loan. Supervises and oversees assigned personnel to provide training, work direction, assignment of duties, performance evaluations, and initiate discipline actions. Plans and directs activities of personnel engaged in handling, moving, and mounting museum artifacts and specimens. Ensures the useful life of the artifacts and specimens through monitoring and regulating environmental conditions in the galleries and storage areas. Plans and implements procedures for cleaning, stabilizing, and restoring artifacts and specimens. Creates and maintains condition reports and conservation reports. Notifies supervisor when problems of restoration require outside experts. Participates in packing and unpacking artifacts and specimens to transfer to and from other museums and donors. Coordinates the installation of artifacts and specimens in exhibitions. Works with the Museum Foundation in making mounts for objects on loan or in the permanent collection. Develops and recommends Disaster Response plan for collections in case of disaster. Interacts and communicates verbally and in writing with volunteers, management, and staff on a variety of conservation issues and concerns. Assists subordinates with the performance of tasks to achieve completion, when necessary.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate pallet jacks and hand trucks. Requires some lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to operate general office equipment such as computer and telephone. Must be able to traverse throughout the museum when conducting inspections of specimens and artifacts. Requires ability to perform manual work which will involve reaching, handling, crouching, climbing, balancing and lifting equipment, materials or supplies, which can weigh up to 50 lbs.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in museum environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in museum sciences, archeology, history, chemistry, geology, or a related field and one (1) year museum conservation or preparation work experience; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Two (2) additional years of conservation experience preferred. One (1) year supervisory or lead experience preferred.

This position is a vital part of our Organization.  Housekeepers provide and maintain a clean, sanitary facility for our children and their families.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through deep cleaning in accordance with the Housekeeping Manual.
  2. Provides deep cleaning and sanitizing of family rooms after check-out. Restocks rooms for paper goods, cleaning supplies, and freshly laundered linens. This includes sweeping, dusting, mopping and sanitizing of all surfaces, including the restroom. Also responsible for washing/drying all linens in the bedroom.
  3. Responsible for maintaining all common areas, public restrooms and activity rooms. This includes sweeping, dusting, mopping and sanitizing of all surfaces.
  4. Responsible for making sure kitchens and dining rooms are cleaned throughout the day. This includes taking the dirty dishes out of the sinks and putting them into the dishwashers, wiping the counters down as well as the dining room tables.
  5. Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials in the common areas and public restrooms.
  6. Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.  Must comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, etc.
  7. Maintains and stores cleaning equipment in clean and safe condition; reports to Facilities Manager any equipment repair needs.
  8. Regularly checks inventory of supplies for House and family use; submits lists for purchase.
  9. Assists with gathering supplies, providing task lists and coordinating with staff on special cleaning days with volunteers.
  10. Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
