Job Title: Lineman

Duties: Perform skilled work in the construction and maintenance of electric cable and powerline systems, and adhere to strict safety regulations.

Must have successfully completed approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program or equivalent experience and training. Must successfully complete placement/performance exercises. Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver License from state of residence.

Exposed to weather, traffic conditions and high voltage; subject to storm or emergency work and the normal hazards of construction work and physical activities such as climbing, walking, standing, bending, stooping, heavy lifting/pulling/pushing.

Candidates accepting Employment with MLGW must live and maintain their residence within the boundaries of Shelby County, Tennessee within six months of their employment date. EOE M/F/D/V

Job Title: Sheet Metal Worker

Duties: Fabricate, install and repair sheet metal products.

Must have completed approved Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Program or equivalent experience and training. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 03A “Mechanics”)/Performance Exercises.

Works in shop majority of time. Subject to welding, burns, falls, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, grasping, heavy lifting, standing/walking for long periods of time and hazards associated with cutting and bending machinery.

Job Title: Electronics Technician

Duties: Perform installation, tests, maintenance/repair of various types of relays and electronic equipment/electrical instruments to transmission and distribution systems.

Drug screening with negative test results is required prior to entry into this classification. Associate degree in Electrical, Telecommunication or Electronic Engineering Technology, or related degrees. Must successfully complete Color Blind I Test. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 004 “Electronics Technicians”)/Performance Exercises. Must complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works inside/outside under varying conditions. Subject to hazards of falling, working in the proximity of high voltage equipment, gas and electricity, traffic, heavy lifting, climbing poles, ladders and ramps and chemical fumes. May work from a bucket truck.

Job Title: Project Engineer

Duties: Monitor, schedule/coordinate the activities of one or more major information systems; carry out pre-defined/pre-established activities as well as special project requests/activities; establish a work management/reporting and standardization scheme for contracted personnel.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial Engineering depending on expertise required. Experience requirements will vary according to departmental needs. Duties: Make detailed drawings from rough or general design drawings; and maintain/revise tracings and maps for electric, gas and water facilities utilizing computer-aided design drafting equipment.

Must have knowledge/skills in computer-aided design drafting. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 001 “Drafters”)/Performance Exercises. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works in office majority of time; occasionally outside under good conditions. Subject to occasionally light lifting of block maps and large books.

Job Title: Service Representative

Duties: Contact commercial, industrial and residential customers regarding service requests; prepare layout design/working sketches for new, revised or temporary electric, gas and water utility services; provide information concerning MLGW policies and procedures; prepare utility refund/service agreements, cost estimates and related documents.

Associate degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; or high school diploma or G.E.D. with courses in Basic Electricity, Algebra, Trigonometry and (Advanced Electricity or Fundamentals of Gas), plus two years of design experience. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 001 “Drafters”)/Performance Exercises. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works outside and inside. Subject to the hazards of working in the proximity to construction and energized conductors; light lifting/carrying, walking, climbing stairs/terrain, kneeling, bending, stooping and standing while working in the field.

Job Title: Attorney II

Duties: Perform intermediate-level legal assistance to the Vice President & General Counsel in providing legal services for MLGW Division; defending/prosecuting lawsuits; drafting/evaluating contracts: compliance issues; and supervise, direct and train assigned employees.

Juris Doctorate degree with two to four years of comparable experience in the practice of corporate law. Must successfully complete the Supervisor Assessment Center. Must have passed the State of Tennessee Bar Examination. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works inside and outside. Subject to hazards of investigative work and stress associated with heavy caseloads; interaction with people, sometimes in an adversarial climate, and changing/unpredictable events.

Job Title: Energy Scheduler (Natural Gas)

Duties: Interact with suppliers and transmission entities to ensure smooth and uninterrupted energy flows to MLGW.

Must have knowledge of the gas scheduling system from supplier side to end user. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job.
