Job Title: Project Engineer

Duties: Monitor, schedule/coordinate the activities of one or more major information systems; carry out pre-defined/pre-established activities as well as special project requests/activities; establish a work management/reporting and standardization scheme for contracted personnel.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial Engineering depending on expertise required. Experience requirements will vary according to departmental needs. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works inside under good conditions.

Job Title: Energy Engineer II (Gas Buyer)

Duties: Apply intermediate-level engineering principles to provide technical and engineering assistance to MLGW’s largest customers and other internal/external entities regarding energy supply issues and to evaluate the economic impact of implemented recommendations.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Must have two to four years of engineering experience. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works in office and outside under fairly good conditions. Subject to occasionally working in proximity of construction, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, medium lifting and walking/standing for long periods of time while making field inspections.

If there are no qualified bidders for Energy Engineer II, bidders will be considered for Energy Engineer I.

Job Title: Supervisor, Security Automation

Duties: Train, direct and supervise employees engaged in internal security automation work to include prevention, detection and investigation by means of installation, maintenance and support of information systems hardware and software, access control systems, automated gates, security alarms and CCTV network security systems; installation, repair and maintenance of locking systems and related hardware for buildings, properties, furniture, safes and vaults; and clerical support functions.

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related fields with coursework in Information Technology plus four to six years of experience in security automation to include configuration, installation, maintenance and monitoring of security systems. Must successfully complete Supervisor Assessment Center. Must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of security alarms, cameras and/or access card installation and maintenance. Should have experience in contract management. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works inside and outside. Subject to standing/walking for extended periods. Subject to 24-hour call.
 

Job Title: Lineman

Duties: Perform skilled work in the construction and maintenance of electric cable and powerline systems, and adhere to strict safety regulations.

Must have successfully completed approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program or equivalent experience and training. Must successfully complete placement/performance exercises. Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver License from state of residence.

Exposed to weather, traffic conditions and high voltage; subject to storm or emergency work and the normal hazards of construction work and physical activities such as climbing, walking, standing, bending, stooping, heavy lifting/pulling/pushing.

Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Mechanic

Duties: Repair, maintain and/or install electric motors, generators and control equipment.

Must have successfully completed Motor and Machine Repair Apprenticeship Program or equivalent experience and training. Must successfully complete Color Blind I Test. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 002 “Electricians”)/Performance Exercises and Physical Abilities Test (CGSIII). Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works inside and outside. Subject to the hazards of electrical shock, falls, climbing ladders, heavy lifting and working with rotary tools and in the proximity of machinery and equipment.

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Duties: Provide excavation, hoisting and moving services by operating various types of cranes and other heavy equipment.

Must have successfully completed approved Heavy Equipment Operator Apprenticeship program or equivalent experience and training. Must successfully complete Physical Abilities Test. Must successfully complete Color Blind I test. Must meet state vision requirements. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence. Must successfully obtain OSHA crane certification within one year after entering classification. Must obtain a valid Class A commercial driver’s license with Tanker and Hazardous Material Endorsement (X) from state of residence within trial or probationary period after entering classification. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 012A “Equipment Operators”)/Performance Exercises.

Works outside with exposure to noise, mud, dust and fumes; subject to the hazards of rigging and operating heavy equipment and working around energized equipment, performing heavy lifting and climbing on/off equipment. Subject to storm or emergency work.

Job Title: Computer Software Specialist III (Linux Administrator)

Duties: Apply advanced-level business and information technology system practices and/or project management methodology in analyzing information requirements to determine hardware/software solutions; develop project plans; and implement, develop or maintain enterprise information systems to meet project deliverables.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Business with a concentration in Information Systems or Math with a concentration in Computer Science or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 hours college accredited Information Technology or Information Systems courses, plus six years of experience in database, computer hardware/software, mainframe, networking, programming or system analysis skills depending on departmental need. Must meet proficiency requirements. Must have at least one year of demonstrated experience as the primary support person for a particular system or application and at least demonstrated knowledge and skills in one or more fields listed below. Experience and knowledge requirements will vary according to area and departmental needs.

Systems Programming:Unix, LINUX, Windows 2003/8, Active Directory Services, Server Virtualization, VMWare, Storage Area Networks, Enterprise Backup Systems, Infrastructure Routing and Switching. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works inside under good conditions. Subject to sitting for long periods of time at computer terminals; eye fatigue; grasping/reaching for technical manuals/printouts and distinguishing color; and occasional light lifting, bending, stooping/crouching to load computer equipment, paper and carry materials.

Work Scope:

Need a Systems Administrator with strong Linux system administration skills and knowledge. The resource will be responsible for the management and support of over 100 Redhat and Oracle Enterprise Linux servers and must have a good working knowledge of managing a Windows Server environment.  An applicant possessing a strong Citrix XenApp 6.5 administration skillset would receive additional consideration.

Minimum Job Skills:

  • Working experience of supporting a Windows Server environment
  • Good hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Good working knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including firewalls, Active Directory and anti-virus software
  • Good working knowledge of server virtualization
  • Good working knowledge of Storage Area Networks
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, firewall management, and database administration

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with network engineering and security, server and storage, business application, and database administration functions to implement Linux systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives
  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for Linux systems and software
  • Install and configure Linux systems and software.
  • Implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure Linux system security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations
  • Perform standard configuration, management, and maintenance tasks for related file systems, input/output systems, networking, clustering, storage, and applications
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform and test system configuration backups and restores to ensure system recovery from error or outage
  • Perform and test data backups and restores, in conjunction with the storage team where present, to ensure full data retrieval
  • Review and deploy Linux system releases and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on all Linux systems
  • Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles
  • Monitor, test, and tune system performance; preserve and provide system log files as needed.
  • Recommend and execute modifications to Linux systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
  • Conduct research on Linux-related hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts
