Typical Duties:

  • Listen to customers’ questions and concerns, and provide answers or responses
  • Process orders, and provide information aboutthe organization’s appliance products and services
  • Takesales orders, calculate charges, and process billing or payments

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires ability to analyze data and determine appropriate transfer/processing. Knowledge of General Electric Appliances preferred plus computer skills. Ability to make sound decisions and good judgment. Excellent communication a must. Normally acquired through high school degree and equivalent 12 thru 18 months or more of experience required.

The Memphis Urban Fellows Program (MUFP) is a year-round initiative that offers local college students the opportunity to intern with various divisions of the City of Memphis Government.  Our mission is to develop the change agents of tomorrow, future City of Memphis leaders, and enhance the interaction of area college students with City government, all in support of retaining the best and brightest talent for Memphis. This is a paid internship which provides the opportunity for growth, networking, and personal fulfillment.

Since 2011, over 220 students from various educational institutions have interned as an Urban Fellow in divisions within City of Memphis Government.  Students reflect the diverse, talented population of young minds in the colleges and universities across our nation.

Urban Fellow Interns are paid $12/hr for their service to the City of Memphis. Additionally, participants are afforded the chance to earn college credit hours for their participation in the Urban Fellows Program. All documentation required for college credit must be completed by the student, with necessary support from their Mentor.  Interns are expected to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week, a maximum of 20 hours, to their assigned service centers for the duration of the program.

Part-Time Veterinary Assistant

Swim 300 yards continuously using 100 yards freestyle, 100 yards breaststroke and 100 yards choice stroke.  2). Starting in the water , swim 20 yards, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound rubber brick, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the brick within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Works under the general direction of an assigned supervisor ensuring the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.  Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.  Rescues swimmers in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated.  Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.  Enforces pool rules, regulations and educate patrons.  Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas.  Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.  Inspects facilities for cleanliness; performs various maintenance and cleaning duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.  Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
