Works under the general supervision of the Metro Alarm Administrator in the billing, processing, and collecting of Alarm fees to include permit fees and false alarm charges issued by the various public safety entities. Prepares and balances daily cash reports, collections, and receipts in the appropriate systems to ensure all funds received are posted and deposited to the City Treasurer on a daily basis.  Generates, maintains and validates all invoices and fees for billing and collections in the appropriate accounting system.  Receives and investigates customer complaints and requests regarding fee discrepancies and/or reimbursements and resolves minor issues without supervisory approval.  Reviews and verifies false alarm accuracy and reports for industrial, commercial, and residential accounts and contacts the appropriate party to conduct a field inspection.  Monitors and verifies the appropriate systems (i.e. Oracle and Cry Wolf) for new customer accounts to ensure correct fee codes are accurate for billing.  Maintains and updates accounting functions including payable, receivables, and budget information for the service center. The Memphis Urban Fellows Program (MUFP) is a year-round initiative that offers local college students the opportunity to intern with various divisions of the City of Memphis Government.  Our mission is to develop the change agents of tomorrow, future City of Memphis leaders, and enhance the interaction of area college students with City government, all in support of retaining the best and brightest talent for Memphis. This is a paid internship which provides the opportunity for growth, networking, and personal fulfillment.

Since 2011, over 220 students from various educational institutions have interned as an Urban Fellow in divisions within City of Memphis Government.  Students reflect the diverse, talented population of young minds in the colleges and universities across our nation.

Urban Fellow Interns are paid $12/hr for their service to the City of Memphis. Additionally, participants are afforded the chance to earn college credit hours for their participation in the Urban Fellows Program. All documentation required for college credit must be completed by the student, with necessary support from their Mentor.  Interns are expected to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week, a maximum of 20 hours, to their assigned service centers for the duration of the program.

Compensation Specialist – Part-Time Vacancy

Part-Time Veterinary Assistant

Capable/Experienced candidates may obtain certification during on-site certifying session, March  13 – 17, at the Bickford Aquatic Center, must pass American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course Prerequisites: 1). Swim 300 yards continuously using 100 yards freestyle, 100 yards breaststroke and 100 yards choice stroke.  2). Starting in the water , swim 20 yards, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound rubber brick, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the brick within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Works under the general direction of an assigned supervisor ensuring the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.  Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.  Rescues swimmers in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated.  Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.  Enforces pool rules, regulations and educate patrons.  Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas.  Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.  Inspects facilities for cleanliness; performs various maintenance and cleaning duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.  Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
