Programs Administrator – 1 opening

Works under the general direction of the Director of the Pink Palace Family of Museums within the Division of Parks & Neighborhoods to plan, develop, and administer programming. Programming activities include: exhibits, collections, education, 3D giant screen theater, Lichterman Nature Center, planetarium, historic properties, and Coon Creek Science Center. Interviews, hires, supervises, evaluates, manages and provides leadership to these departments. Selects and develops exhibits, educational programming, films, planetarium shows, and other informal education experiences. Works closely with marketing, philanthropy, and business teams to support programming initiatives. Ensures Museum programs meet strategic goals. Creates and reviews departmental revenue and expense budget for both City of Memphis funded programs and those funded jointly with the City as part of ongoing evaluation; while also drafting capital budgets.  Assists in planning and implementing the Museum system’s Master Plan and capital projects, and serves as a member of the Director’s Management Team. Represents the Museum in speaking engagements and presentations with affiliate groups. Semiskilled Crewperson – 2 openings

Works under the supervision of an assigned foreman or supervisor.  Performs semi-skilled manual work assisting various crews involved in maintaining and repairing areas within the City such as storm drain systems and sanitary sewer lines, city streets, roadside ditches, right-of-ways, buildings and facilities.  May perform functions such as unclogging and maintaining the City’s sanitary sewer lines and drain system by operating sewer cleaning equipment such as power rodder, high velocity water jet, and sewer flusher to remove roots, debris, and other refuse from clogged sewer lines, removing obstruction may involve handling industrial size water hose and flexible cable with various attachments.  Dispenses chemical solutions according to foreman/supervisor instructions, cleans tools, attachments, and equipment using appropriate cleaning solvents when assigned.  Assists with engaging and disengaging equipment attachments.  May lift, climb into, and clean manholes and drainage facilities such as inlets and culvets, using rake, shovel and wheelbarrow.   Cuts and clears brush, weeds, and debris from work area.   Loads and unload materials, tools and equipment from trucks.  May mix concrete and utilize an air hammer to dig and remove asphalt and concrete.

Code Enforcement Inspector – 2 openings

Works under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor in Code Enforcement Service Center, Public Work Division. Inspects the exterior and interior of vacant and occupied existing residential structures (single and multi-family) units, grounds, and abandoned and disabled automobiles for compliance with codes and regulations in the City. Inspects housing components such as structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and other installations to determine maintenance requirements, housing violations, or hazardous conditions.  Investigates complaints on code violations and re-inspects property for compliance.  Prepares various reports utilizing different software packages by operating the computer and/or hand held devices.  Issues violation orders/notices, environmental and civil citations using various computerized methods to responsible party including property owners, landlords or tenants for specific housing, building, sanitation, health or fire prevention violations based on relevant housing codes.   Maintains and keeps inspection and various reports including photographs, notes of conversations, videos, correspondence, field reviews, and other related information into a computerized system.  Performs research to determine property ownership.  Provides information to the public regarding Chapter 48 of the City of Memphis Housing Codes.
