Description of position:
Logistics account managers broker freight for manufacturers and distributors by matching carriers to move the freight to its destination in the required timeframe. They are the link between the customer and the carriers and oversee the entire process to ensure the freight is successfully delivered. They seek out new customers, make sales calls, build relationships with carriers, and continually research the logistical climate. Knowledge and learning the types of transportation and loading equipment needed for different types of freight is essential. Negotiating with customers and carriers is a core activity. Must be able to manage email and phone contacts to meet customer and carrier expectations and manage issues as they occur.
The ability to hustle, learn, and think on your feet are essential. Customer service skills are a must. You should be capable of communicating (spoken and written language) quickly and effectively. Computer skills are essential. Multi-tasking and organizational skills are a requirement. Attention to detail should be second nature. Being a team player is of utmost importance. A logical mind that enjoys solving problems and puzzles is needed. This position is not for the timid. One (1) or more years of experience in the logistics/transportation industry is preferred but not required. A training wage is offered weekly or 100% commission whichever is greater.
