Vet Center Reaches Out to Vets in Dresden, TN on August 23 and at East Shelby Drive Library in Memphis on August 31

Memphis, Tennessee – The Memphis Vet Center, in a collaborative effort with Veteran Service Officer of Weakly County, is hosting a Veterans Community Outreach on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. This event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 116 W. Main Street, Room G04 at the Weakley County court house, Dresden, TN 38025.

Veterans and their family members are invited to come out and learn about the Vet Center, Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center services, other local and national veteran service agencies. Staff will be available to discuss readjustment and transitional needs to connect veterans to VA and community resources.

The Mobile Vet Center (MVC) will be on site and staff will be available to answer questions related to VA benefits and health care, as well as, offer private counseling for post-traumatic stress issues, military sexual trauma, and issues related to marriage and family. The MVC also serves as part of the VA emergency response program.

The Memphis Vet Center is also hosting a Veterans Community Outreach on August 31, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the library, located at 7200 East Shelby Drive, Memphis, TN 38109. Veterans and the public are invited to come out and learn about Vet Center and other VA services. Staff will be available to discuss readjustment and transitional needs and to connect veterans to VA and community resources. The MVC will also be on site at this event.

The Tennessee Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Highway for Heroes mobile unit will be there to assist veterans and active military members with quick access for driver’s license renewals, replacements and reinstatements; obtaining state identification cards, as well as testing information to obtain a Tennessee Commercial Driver License (CDL).

Veterans are encouraged to bring a copy of their DD214 (military discharge paper) to assist in determining eligibility for services. For more information, contact Frederick Smith or Denesse Torpoco at the Memphis Vet Center at (901) 522-3950.
