Resource Development Manager (RDM)

United Way of the Mid-South (Memphis, TN) is seeking a Resource Development Manager (RDM) capable of meeting and achieving our mission and strategic focus. This RDM should be an energetic team player, able to coordinate and implement comprehensive relationship management and fundraising strategies with individuals and priority companies.
This position will tailor and execute initiatives and activities to achieve growth, retention, participation, and revenue goals. The RDM will work to position United Way as the primary philanthropic conduit between companies, their employees, and the communities in which they operate, through the development of a year-round engagement experience for donors and volunteers.
The RDM is also charged with credibly representing UWMS and its strategic direction to the community and corporate leaders and to work closely with the Director of Resource Development to cultivate the relationships and contributions needed to succeed.
The RDM will have financial targets centered around the annual campaign, special initiative fundraising, Campaign Representative recruitment, sponsorship fundraising, and response to custom giving interests that align with UWMS’ mission.

Hiring Range:

Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum five (5) years of successful and credible experience in a fundraising, resource development, and/or sales.
  • Has a shared commitment to the mission of the organization and the community at large.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to create, grow and retain strong customer relationships.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
  • A reputation for team work and a can-do, solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Advanced computer skills including Google office tools, specifically email, Google docs and calendar, as well as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Because the RDM will spend over 65% of a week out of the office, reliable personal transportation is required and essential.
  • Candidate must have the ability to network in a professional environment and develop and cultivate new business accounts/opportunities on a weekly basis.
  • Candidate will need knowledge and experience using Saleforce and Enterprise Data Collection Systems.

Purpose and Scope

Supports an organization or department by performing administrative and secretarial services for the Parent Welcome Center. Assists management with administrative tasks such as tracking and compiling information of interest.

Essential Job Functions

1. Answers calls coming into the Parent Welcome Center, the first point of contact for parents, community members, and employees who contact the district
2. As the first point of contact for individuals calling the district, answers questions and solves a wide breadth of concerns and problems quickly and efficiently without having to refer callers to individual departments unless necessary.
3. Escalates complicated or sensitive calls or calls that Call Center Assistant cannot answer to the Call Center Manager.
4. Provides superior customer service to callers.
5. Performs a full range of administrative work for multiple programs and projects for the Call Center.
6. Prepares various reports detailing the administrative information handled by the position. Reviews and answers correspondence for the Call Center.
7. Identifies issues or problems and seeks alternative solutions consistent with applicable regulations.
8. Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned service, activities, and operations; provides for appropriate research and compiles reports, as needed.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School degree or equivalent. Prefer experience in public education; prefer call center experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and research techniques;
  • Knowledge of the functions of the school division and its operating procedures;
  • Must possess analytical and organizational skills, good judgment, and initiative;
  • Considerable ability to evaluate information, perform analysis and prepare written and oral recommendations;
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities;
  • Ability to operate a computer and use appropriate software applications and peripheral office equipment;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in business English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Youth Villages’ Residential Treatment programs serve children with emotional and behavioral problems. Our residential campuses provide the setting for an intensive treatment program that combines the unique balance of structure and freedom. This enables children and their families to identify, understand and cope with their individual needs and develop the skills necessary to succeed in less restrictive settings. We have three different types of facilities—Intensive Residential Centers, Open Campuses, and Group Homes. Located in Tennessee, Georgia, and Oregon, all of these facilities utilize the Re-Education of Emotionally Disturbed Children therapy model (Re-Ed). The majority of these youth attend the fully accredited schools which are located on our residential treatment campuses.

Position Overview

  • Plan for individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and other skills.
  • Participate in training and in-service activities.
  • Administer and interprets testing to determine academic needs.
  • Develop and uses a variety of teaching techniques.
  • Produce lesson plans that reflect the individual educational needs of students.
  • Prepare reports in compliance with school guidelines.
  • Maintain progress notes, attendance records, and grade scores in a timely manner.
  • Other essential duties as needed.

Candidates may have the opportunity to teach in specialized subjects
Monday – Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm.

Duties: Perform mechanical maintenance/repair work on Division vehicles and heavy equipment in the shop and/or field.

Associate degree in Automotive Technology or related degree; OR successfully completed Mechanic Apprenticeship program; OR have four (4) current ASE/FPS certifications; OR four (4) years experience in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of automotive vehicles, or medium duty trucks or heavy equipment. ASE certifications A1-Engine Repair, or T1-Gasoline Engines, or T2-Diesel Engines and A6-Electrical/Electronics Systems or T6-Electrical/Electronic Systems are required, and based on departmental needs the two (2) remaining certifications will be determined from an approved ASE/FPS list.  The approved ASE/FPS list includes A1-A8; T1-T6, T8; F1; L1; and/or FPS certifications which include Mobile Hydraulic Mechanic, Hydraulic Technician and/or Application/Electronics Specialist. Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial driver’s license from the state of residence within the trial or probationary period after entering classification.  Must successfully complete Placement (Group 03C “Mechanics”)/Performance Exercises.  Must pass Color Blind I Test.  Must be able to differentiate sounds when making adjustments.

Works inside and outside.  Subject to hazards of operating machinery and irritation from oils, solvents, chemicals, and fumes.  Make service calls in the field.  Performs heavy lifting.  Subject to climbing, standing/walking for extended periods, and working in uncomfortable positions.
