JOB TITLE: ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our team in Memphis, TN. The E&I Technician is a member of a team that supports the operation and maintenance of Electrical, Instrumentation, PLC and DCS equipment. The Electrical & Instrumentation position starts out at $30.40ph. This position is a key resource to ensuring manufacturing operations run reliably and qualitatively. This position requires a Shelby County Tennessee Journeyman Electrical License or the ability to attain a license within 6 months of employment. The E&I Technician is expected to use the knowledge of the National Electric Code and NFPA70E to ensure that all electrical work is conducted safely and meets NEC and Shelby County, TN Electric Code requirements.

E&I Technicians work as a team under the direct supervision of the E&I Department’s Planner and Scheduler. An E&I Technician’s schedule contains both straight dayshift Monday thru Friday and rotating shift schedules. An E&I Technician also carries ownership responsibilities for the health of equipment in prescribed process areas and is expected to be an owner/resident expert in prescribed E&I technologies. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

· Troubleshooting, repairing, replacing and installing DCS, PLC and HMI components, motors, A/C and D/C VFD’s, electrical circuits and MCC starters

· Repairing, replacing, and installing conduit, wiring and electrical equipment

· Troubleshooting, calibrating, replacing and installing instrumentation components

· Troubleshooting, calibrating, replacing, rebuilding, and installing control valves

· Replacing, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing electrical distribution center breakers

· Operating HV switches

· Scanning energized electrical circuitry using infrared technology

· Troubleshooting, repairing and replacing controls communication networks

· Troubleshooting process upsets

· Supporting maintenance with all E&I documentation

· Working independently as well as with individuals at all levels within the organization

What You Will Need: Basic Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED

· Five (5) years or more electrical and electronic experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

· Current Shelby County TN Journeyman Electrical license OR willing and able to attain within six (6) months of employment

· Two (2) years or more of experience with

§ Power distribution of high, medium and low voltages

§ Process instrumentation

§ Low and medium voltage motors and controls

§ PLC and DCS controls and HMI

§ Pneumatic and hydraulic systems

· Experience with Microsoft Outlook-communication, Excel-spreadsheet creation and Word-document creation

· Experience operating mobile equipment to include; forklifts, man lifts, utility carts and other equipment as needed

· Willing and able to obtain all company specific GP N10 qualifications within eighteen (18) months of hire date

· Willing and able to set up, climb and work from ladders

· Willing and able to work overtime and on-call as needed

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

· Ten (10) years or more experience in electrical and electronic skilled trades

· Five (5) years or more continuing education in the trades

· Current holder of Shelby County TN Journeyman Electrical Licens

· Five (5) years or more experience with the following:

o Low, medium and high voltage in an industrial manufacturing environment

o 1000-3000 kva liquid filled power transformers and power distribution

o Using and configuring current Honeywell DCS systems

o Using and programming Modicon and Allen Bradley PLCs

o DCS and PLC integration

· Experienced with HART communications

· Experienced assembling and calibrating Neles Jamesbury, Fisher, Durco, etc., control valves

· Experienced software user, e.g.: Proworx32, RSLogix5000, MS Office, other equipment manufacturer’s proprietary communication software, eg; Yaskawa & AB VFDs, GE Multilin

· E&I maintenance experience in a pulp and paper mill

· Experience in a Preventive, Predictive, Planned and Scheduled maintenance environment

· Process experience in a pulp and paper mill

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

· Troubleshooting mechanical equipment and systems to maintain expected machine performance in a flow to work model

· Inspecting machinery to identify issues that may lead to unplanned downtime

· Participating in a preventative maintenance program to ensure machinery uptime

· Performing various duties in the maintenance department related to assembly, repairs and fabrication of metal parts

· Using blueprints and designs sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product

· Reading and interpreting complex work instructions and documentation

· Recording maintenance and repairs in a computerized system

What You Will Need: Basic Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED

· Five (5) years or more of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, or manufacturing environment OR two (2) or more years mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment AND a two-year technical degree in related field

· Experience troubleshooting, repairing & installing conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics

· Experience with pumps, packing, seals, piping, valves, fasteners, and gaskets

· Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, aligning and working with power transmissions, bearings, gearboxes and drive systems

· Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions

· Willing and able to work in a loud/noisy, hot, cold, humid, dusty, greasy and high-volume environment

· Experience working with preventative, predictive, and reliability- based maintenance practices

· Willing and able to work an 8, 10, and 12-hour shift, holidays, weekends, overtime, and call ins as required

· Willing and able to work in a team setting & communicate effectively to achieve productivity goals

· Willing and able to adapt to changing daily responsibilities and work with minimal direction

What Will Put You Ahead? Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with fabrication and welding

· Maintenance experience in the Pulp & Paper industry

· Knowledge of gears, sheaves, hubs and shafts to attain proper fit and clearance of equipment and drive components

· Experience with precision maintenance practices, specifically laser alignment
