Program Overview
Youth Villages’ Residential Treatment programs serve children with emotional and behavioral problems.  Our residential campuses provide the setting for an intensive treatment program that combines the unique balance of structure and freedom. This enables children and their families to identify, understand and cope with their individual needs and develop the skills necessary to succeed in less restrictive settings.  We have three different types of facilities—Intensive Residential Centers, Open Campuses, and Group Homes.  Located in Tennessee and Georgia, all of these facilities utilize the Re-Education of Emotionally Disturbed Children therapy model (Re-Ed).

Position Overview
The Behavioral Youth Counselor, also know as a Teacher Counselor:
•Teaches the children necessary life skills and provide for their physical daily care.
•Assists in treatment planning for each child.
•Conducts daily documentation such as contact notes, milieu notes, and precautionary notes.
•Participates in client transports to various locations
•Participates in recreation therapy with children.
•Improves children’s behavior through coping skills and other therapeutic interventions.
•Conducts group and 1 on 1 counseling sessions

Additional Information
The TC (Teacher Counselor) schedule runs either Sun-Wed or Wed-Sat
Three weekdays: (M-W or W-F) 2:00pm-10:30pm
One weekend day: 6:30am-10:30pm
Some TCs spend the night once or twice a week on the campus and have additional responsibility for waking the residents and directing them with their morning routine. This schedule also provides counselors with a three day weekend. (Please note: Counselors do not live on the campuses and are responsible for securing their own residencies.)  Each campus differs on their schedule structure and rotations and can be discussed further with a specific hiring manager.

The supervision and treatment of youth requires prolonged periods of walking and standing and physical agility. May be required to run and climb flights of stairs. Must be able to participate in physical interventions with youth when necessary. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.  Continue reading

•Monday – Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm.

Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in education with appropriate certification is required (K-12)
Active Licensure in TN with an endorsement in Special Education is required
Experience in special education or teaching experience in a clinical environment is preferred
Experience working with at-risk youth a major plus
Experience working with youth is required
Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Basic computer knowledge
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule

As a part‐time Instructional Coordinator, you will assist with the daily operation of the JA BizTown simulation. You will act as a resource for students, volunteers, and teachers, and will support the implementation of activities including:
∙ Facilitate simulation activities efficiently and effectively by managing processes for assigned businesses/groups, including hands-on instruction with students;
∙ Train adult volunteers for their role within the program (this includes presenting to large and small groups, and
one‐on‐one instruction);
∙ Maintain overall instructional excellence of the program for all stakeholders (sponsors, teachers, volunteers &
students);
∙ Assist with necessary set up of the JA BizTown facility for student visits and volunteer/teacher training
sessions;

Position Schedule: Instructional Coordinators would be expected to be available an average of 3 days per week during the school year (Sept‐May).

Artesian’s Smooth Transition Mentor program is designed to support 8th-grade students during the transition into their first semester of high school. Over a period of 12 months, the mentor will engage and motivate students who have been identified as “at-risk” for not completing high school, due to chronic absenteeism and/or poor academic habits. Revolutions Bicycle CoOp Hiring for Education Program Coordinator

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

Revolutions Bicycle Cooperative, based in Memphis, TN, is a program of First Congregational Church (501(c)3 non-profit) that has worked since 2002 to build a more inclusive community by getting people on bicycles.

Our vision:  By making bicycling a desirable transportation option, we create a healthier, more connected and livable community.

ROLE OVERVIEW: 

The Revolutions Education Program Coordinator works with the Executive Director and Staff to run our youth and adult educational programs. This role includes creating and teaching bicycle repair classes, bicycle riding classes, camps and more. The Education Program Coordinator will also lead bicycle rides, and help with mechanic work needed to finish and check bicycles for use in educational programs. The Education Program Coordinator will take the lead on our new bicycle education program in local schools as lead educator, volunteer coordinator and scheduler. The Education Program Coordinator will also collaborate with Revolutions’ staff on volunteer coordination for other educational programs. Each day will be a blend of these tasks, requiring both collaboration and independence. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident bicycle rider with experience working on bicycles, and teaching youth and adults.

Travel around the Memphis metro area is required. Travel by bicycle is preferred. As we attempt to normalize the bicycle as a viable transportation option, we try to model everyday riding as much as possible. Revolutions has a great selection of cargo bikes for our employees to use, especially when delivery of tools and equipment is required for a program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Works independently, or with other staff, to schedule and run educational programs: including bicycle repair classes, bicycle riding classes/clubs, summer camps, and community partnerships.
  • Coordinates emerging bicycle safety program in local schools, including communicating with school PE teachers and staff, and volunteers
  • Leads bicycle mechanic work for program bicycles; fixes and safety checks bicycles.
  • Coordinates bicycle storage and bicycle needs for various programs.
    • Loading, unloading and moving bicycles, helmets, and other equipment
  • Updates registrations, database, class documents and calendars as needed.
  • Helps strategize creative ways to reach new audiences for upcoming programs.
  • Maintains classroom environments; cleans and restocks spaces weekly.
  • Other tasks like overseeing workshop hours, to be shared with other staff, as needed.

COMPENSATION:  $25,000 — $30,000

Including benefits: employer sponsored health insurance; 12 days of vacation to start (plus one day each additional year of work); paid organization-wide recess from 12/25 to 1/1 every year; all products in our bicycle shop and catalog at cost (including new bicycles and parts); casual dress code for work.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:  

  • Ability to teach in an engaging and challenging manner; prior experience teaching is preferred.
  • Experienced bicycle rider; able to ride a bicycle long distances, while pedaling additional weight.
    • Bicycle commuting expertise, necessary.
  • Excellent bicycle mechanic skills; prior experience as a bicycle mechanic preferred.
  • Understanding of social justice and awareness of privilege.
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks.
  • Capacity to work on a computer and complete paperwork and database work.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends required for this position.
  • Driver’s license; ability to pass a driving record check & drive large vehicles, preferred.
  • Education Coordinator must pass a criminal background check for working with children.

The successful candidate will teach Junior Academy Rhythm Section Vocals, Music Theory, and Choreography. The Vocal Instructor/Choreographer will assist with selecting appropriate repertoire for student development and social relevance. Additionally, the Vocal Instructor/Choreographer will assist with planning weekly rehearsals, arranging charts, and developing choreography for all ensembles as needed.

The Vocal Instructor/Choreographer will support the Senior Academy Vocal Director in fulfilling all responsibilities associated with teaching, conduct all assigned class meetings, administer narrative and numerical evaluations for each class, and fulfill other academic duties such as attending special department events, as assigned by Production Manager.

VOCAL INSTRUCTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide music instruction and curriculum oversight for the following:
a. Junior Academy Rhythm Section Vocals (Primary)
b. Street Corner Harmonies (Secondary)
c. Music Theory

2. Submit weekly reports of lesson plans, learning outcomes, and repertoire per ensemble
3. Oversee classroom timeliness and management for assigned ensembles
4. Teach private and group lessons as needed
5. Assist with all ensembles as needed
6. Provide reasonable administrative support for all SMA programs
7. Assist other staff members, as needed, for special events
