 Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations

  • Receive all inbound perishable items
    • Insure proper temperature
    • Inspect merchandise for issues such as infestation
    • Weigh product
    • Fill out proper paperwork
  • Pull products as required for distribution warehouse replenishment
    • Unload inbound freight
    • Maintain orderly and clean work area in compliance with Food Bank safety and sanitation policies

    • Maintain all areas to meet Memphis and Shelby County Health Department’s guidelines
    • Sort all product to meet the requirements outlined by MSFB distribution guidelines
    • Conduct cycle counts as directed

 Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, knowledge of good record keeping procedures and the ability to maintain accurate and legible records and current files.
  • Prior warehouse, production, food service experience preferred.
  • Ability to withstand below freezing temperatures for short periods of time (thermal insulated suit is provided).
  • Ability to operate a forklift and a manual or powered pallet jack, forklift certification required.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to successfully complete a Safe Food Handling Course.
    • Ability to work at a fast pace.

Job Summary:  Duties include calling on retail grocery stores in support of the store donation program, educating store personnel on their program’s donation guidelines, attending store meetings and store training sessions, monitoring and reporting donation progress to store managers, district managers and program coordinators, and managing the donor recognition program.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify target stores by retail account.
  • Provide personal follow-up and recognition for retailers.
  • Create and routinely implement an onsite visitation plan.
  • Create a store donation toolkit for each retail chain, to be used when visiting stores.
  • Create and maintain a key contact data base, with follow-up correspondence on a consistent basis.
  • Process blue receipts.
  • Work with Agency Relations to establish a process for managing agencies participating in the SDP.
  • Work with drivers and warehouse staff to ensure stores are ready for driver pickups and are following donation guidelines.
  • Work with Donor Relations to recognize retailers where applicable.
  • Prepare weekly activity report on donor visits and store-level interactions.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred – Associates or Bachelors degree.
  • Minimum of three years sales experience (preferably within the food and grocery industry) or culinary/hospitality sales.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with emphasis on relationship building.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft office and the ability to maintain accurate and legible records.
  • Motivated self-starter with a strong external customer focus.

  • Work with executive management to develop policies and procedures for rate negotiation and the purchase of transportation, the Food Bank truck fleet, freight bill auditing and overcharge claims and optimum traffic routes.
  • Analyze transportation costs, equipment availability and service levels, making recommendations and instituting corrective action.
  • Maintain working relationships that ensure the success of Food Bank programs.  This includes maintaining positive interpersonal relationships with donors, agency representatives, Food Bank management and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years transportation and logistics experience; must be familiar with transportation management systems. A minimum of two years of college preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations including DOT/Safety regulations and compliance record keeping.

  • Must be able to drive a truck, operate a fork lift and pallet jacks; commercial driver’s license preferred.

  • Maintain and enhance the Mid-South Food Bank (MSFB) volunteer program to support vital daily operations, general community relations and donor cultivation including the recruitment, coordination, recognition and training of volunteers.
  • Facilitate volunteer scheduling, confirmation and thank you process.
  • Maintain volunteer job descriptions, policies, protocol and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of college or equivalent business experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent with the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute; experience with inventory control software a plus

  • Open and date stamp vendor invoices, code and enter into Quickbooks, run batch reports, match checks, invoices, payment stubs and payment records, mail checks, prepare file labels.
  • Edit and print timecards, calculate timecards, enter payroll data, check and confirm all payroll forms, update leave balances, assist in payroll submission.
  • Sort employment applications, maintain application files, prepare applicant follow-up letters.
  • Prepare new hire packets, maintain employee files, submit benefit enrollment/change forms, verify benefit billings, prepare COBRA letters, prepare/distribute insurance memo/questionnaire.
  • Assist with monthly journal entry preparation, reconciliations, allocations, reports and budget process.
  • Responsible for general office equipment including copiers, faxes and postage meter; purchase office supplies and maintain office inventory.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with donors, volunteers, agency representatives, visitors, management, staff and board of directors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Two years of college with courses in business/accounting plus 2-4 years general accounting experience.  Associates or Bachelors in accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word and intermediate to advanced Excel and accounting software.  Quickbooks experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of good record keeping procedures and ability to maintain accurate records and files.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute and use 10-key by touch.
