  • Heavy Equipment Operator – Must have 3-5 years Heavy Construction experience – Operating Trackhoe, Backhoe, with experience around overhead electric lines, working around underground utilities, and loading dump trucks.
  • Pipe Foreman – Employee must have 3-5 years experience installing sewer/drainage/water pipes. Must have experience supervising 3-6 employees.  Operating equipment a plus.  
  • Pipe Laborer – Employee must have some working knowledge of installation of sewer/drainage/water pipes.  Concrete experience preferred.
 
Work Hours are Monday - Friday 7AM - 5-6 PM occasional Saturday.  Weather/work load will designate exact work times.
Pay is based on experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the direct supervision of the Building and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.  Supervises and coordinates activities of all staff, volunteers, prisoners, and other workers responsible for grounds maintenance duties such as trash and debris removal, privet and kudzu removal, pond monitoring, recycling activities, and maintenance of meadow, lawn, trails, and parking lot areas.  Instructs assigned crew on work procedures and use of equipment to ensure work is performed properly in a safe environment; operates and maintains vehicles and equipment such as a front end loader tractor with bush hog including adding fluids and fuel as needed; reports work progress and requests supplies and equipment as needed; and prepares reports for on-the-job injuries and property damage.  Assists and leads workers in performing maintenance duties as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

           1. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:    Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.  Requires ability to climb onto and operate assigned equipment and to engage and disengage attachments.  Must be able to handle various hand tools.  Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching above head, pushing, pulling, traversing uneven ground, and lifting materials and supplies weighing approx. 50 lbs.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Majority of work is performed outdoors exposed to odors, dust, and all types of weather including heat, cold, rain, etc.  Some off-site work may be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the direction of the Police Payroll Supervisor to calculate, maintain, and report accurate payroll for the Police Services Division.  Maintains the pay roll system by weekly posting and verifying roll call information that is received daily including leave time taken, overtime hours worked, and corrections to previous data received.  Prepares and distributes various reports from pay roll system showing employees’ activity including work status, special assignments, overtime, leave taken, and leave accrued such as vacation, bonus days, sick time, accumulated time, etc.  Receives and maintains overtime sheets and overtime detail vouchers to correct roll call system and update payroll system on continuation of duty, court appearance overtime, etc.  Prepares and distributes payroll time sheets to precincts to report and verify biweekly pay with payroll preliminary journal including leave time taken, overtime earned, and proper pay for incentives such as shift, college, and longevity pay.  Performs complex biweekly police pay calculations by correctly adding overtime and other hours at proper rate of pay including “prime time” hours, minimum hours paid for special details and continuation of duty per memorandum of understanding, leave hours not worked, etc.  Researches payroll issues with employees at all levels and advises on payroll procedures.  Routes and distributes checks each payday.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the direction of an assigned supervisor in the overall maintenance of grounds and turf of City golf courses. Supervises, coordinates, instructs, and evaluates the work of subordinates engaged in all aspects of turf management, including irrigation, fertilization, dispensing and mixing chemicals, and in the use of turf equipment. Reviews work performed by contractors. Assists in plant selection for grounds.  Assists in the preparation of department budget. Orders supplies in line with approved budgets. Maintains records of daily work activities. Plans and develops procedures, materials, and safety standards applicable to the care and maintenance of golf courses, including utilizing knowledge of turf diseases, pesticides, mixing chemicals, and safety methods. Develops and organizes techniques used in the care and maintenance of turf, shrubs, trees, and other greenery.  Maintains soil treatments used to establish conditions conducive to the healthy growth of grass and other plants.  Establishes priorities of equipment repair. Oversees the equipment maintenance programs. Exercises cost control measures to keep operating and capital expenses in line with approved budgets.  Operates and maintains the equipment and tools used including turf equipment, tractor with attachments, irrigating systems, and high pressure pumps. Inspect and monitors overall turf condition of course to determine need for supplemental irrigation or fertilization.  Develops maintenance schedule for the golf course. Provides work direction, assignment of duties, evaluation of work performance, and discipline for assigned personnel through constructive and cooperative working relationships. Creates and prepares a variety of correspondence, memoranda, and reports by utilizing various computer applications. Interacts and communicates verbally and in writing with general public, vendors, contractors, government agencies, management, and other staff members on a variety of issues and concerns.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the direction of the Waste Treatment Plant Maintenance Manager.  Directs and coordinates work of subordinate personnel, responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of the machinery and mechanical equipment associated with the Wastewater Treatment Plant, including dewatering facilities and sludge disposal operations.  Provides training, work direction, and evaluates performance of assigned personnel; evaluates work demands and makes daily assignments; maintains inventory of equipment and parts; ensures equipment is properly maintained and secured; develops and implements preventative maintenance program for equipment; responsible for maintaining and utilizing the Computer Maintenance System (CMS); interprets personnel policies and contract memorandums; takes disciplinary action according to established practices; and confers with workers’ representatives to resolve grievances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  High school graduate and five (5) years experience in preventative maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment similar to that used in a large volume wastewater treatment plant such as: centrifugal and positive displacement pumps of all sizes and types, hydraulic systems, high volume blowers, compressor units, hoisting equipment, conveyors, clarifiers, belt filters presses, sludge spreading equipment, heavy equipment and agriculture equipment, grounds and building maintenance or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.  One (1) year of the five (5) years experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.  Knowledge of computers and CMS preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Works under the general direction of the Animal Services Administrator or designated supervisor to provide first line supervision of daily activities of the animal shelter, participate in major operations and planning decisions, and serve as Manager in his/her absence.  Supervises sheltering activities to ensure that animals are properly housed, fed, and cared for in a clean and sanitary environment. Uses computerized program to monitor and track kennel inventory, impound, licensing, and rabies quarantine procedures.  Maintains necessary animal records and complies with City ordinances and shelter policies on the care and disposition of animals including adoptions, redemptions, euthanasia, and when needed, the collection of fines and revenues from these activities.  Monitors maintenance of building; maintains inventory and orders supplies for the daily operation of the shelter.  Approves work schedules, trains and consults with employees and other supervisors regarding City and Bargaining Unit Personnel policies and regulations.  Performs public relations duties including handling complaints from occasionally irrate customers and attends meetings with civic groups or the media to provide information about shelter activities.
