Job Information:

Assists in the collection, processing, shipping, and security of all fare box revenues and the operation, cleaning and maintenance for all associated equipment. Must be able to work weekday mornings, early p.m. and every other Saturday.

Environment:Extensive standing and walking are required in the course of a normal day. May be required to lift and carry 50 lbs; overhead lifting and reaching. Requires the ability to withstand exposure to weather conditions, dust, engine fumes, toxic chemicals and extreme noise levels. Must be able to climb in and out of buses in order to insert and remove the boxes in the fare box in 30 seconds. Requires ability to hear telephone and directions given, distinguish equipment problems associated with troubleshooting repairs and visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance.

Miscellaneous: Must be flexible to work shift hours and days as assigned including weekends.

Job Information:

DEFINITION: Inspect, repair and service all MATA vehicular equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Repair and replace diesel and gasoline engine accessories as may be required.
  • Repair and replace bus and automotive body accessories (door engines, electrical units, glass, windshield wipers, seats, wheelchair lifts, etc.)
  • Rebuild engine parts and other bus parts such as brakes, alternators, differentials, etc.
  • Repair all MATA vehicles (gas and diesel) including repairs to air conditioners, motors, transmissions, generators, starters, etc.
  • Make road calls by driving a wrecker or bus.
  • Trouble shoots vehicular problems including electrical systems, engines, etc.

Other Job Functions:

  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Education: Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Other: Must have six years’ experience in the repair of diesel and gasoline engines and in troubleshooting automotive and bus electrical systems. Possess standard mechanical hand tools, and must be experienced in the use of tools to perform mechanical work. Must be able to read and understand maintenance manuals, fuel buses and prepare work cards and orders for vehicle repairs.

Environment: Extensive walking and standing, lifting a maximum of 50 lbs. and lifting parts and materials overhead is required. The ability to withstand exposure to negative surroundings such as uncomfortable weather conditions, dust, engine fumes, toxic chemicals and extreme noise levels is required. The ability to steer vehicles using the hand-over-hand method and to grip a steering wheel is required. Must be able to crawl or stoop into tight areas or lay horizontal under a vehicle. The ability to hear directions given, to distinguish vehicular problems associated with trouble shooting repairs, and to visually perform essential functions is required for satisfactory job performance.

Miscellaneous: Must be willing to work shift hours and days as assigned. Work records of current employees will be reviewed for satisfactory performance and minimum qualifications.

Job Information:

Applicants must have at least Class A or B (“P” endorsement) Commercial Driver’s License/ Permit to begin training. “Must obtain license prior to ending of training”. Applicants must complete a separate application for each position they are applying for.

JOB FUNCTION: Provide safe, efficient and on-time delivery of passengers by means of public and/or specialized transportation in a manner consistent with FTA requirements and regulations. Must be trained and knowledgeable in emergency procedures including evacuation of passengers, etc. Must complete passenger sensitivity training program.

Responsibilities

1. Operate one of several different coaches or vans in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner on a designated route within a defined time schedule.

2. Direct and assist passengers in a safe and orderly fashion in loading and unloading. Provide assistance to passengers with disabilities and the elderly as required including operating platform wheelchair lifts.

3. Operate and communicate two-way radio system as regulated by the FCC. Notify central dispatch of deviations, overload, accidents, or passenger incidents. Notify central dispatch of passengers’ medical or behavioral problems and vehicle mechanical or electrical trouble.

4. Responsible for the collection of appropriate fares. Distribute and collect transfers, tickets and coupons. Operate on-board computer for fare box. Dispense information to passengers as requested.

5. Advise passengers of rules and regulations when necessary.

6. Complete and submit written reports concerning passenger incidents.

OTHER ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide information concerning routes, fares, schedules and transfer points.

2. Secure and turn in articles found in vehicle.

3. Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Other: Must be able to read, write, and speak English; perform basic mathematical procedures. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have had no suspensions or revocations during the last five years; must have the ability to secure and maintain a Class B (“P” endorsement) Commercial Driver’s License. Must successfully pass a written test and be able to write legibly in the preparation of trouble cards, accident reports, etc. Must possess basic knowledge of MATA transfer locations and other MATA services, routes and fare structures. Must be able to communicate effectively with the public required to include ability to serve the needs of the disabled and the elderly. Must be able to comprehend written and oral directions, bulletins, routes, fares, etc.

Environment: As driving a vehicle is the primary duty in this position, extensive periods of sitting are required. Requires ability to withstand exposure to weather conditions, dust, engine fumes, toxic chemicals and extreme noise levels. Requires ability to perform hand-over-hand method of steering vehicles and be able to grip a steering wheel; flexibility of arms is required to safely maneuver all types of coaches and vans. May be required to lift or push 15 lbs.; overhead reaching. In the normal course of the day, may be required to push or pull passengers in wheelchairs.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and a Commercial Driver’s License Permit, and have no suspensions or revocations during the last five years; must secure and maintain a Class B (“P”) Commerical Driver’s License prior to the final eligibility test; the Class B (“P”) Commerical Driver’s License must be maintained while employed.

Environment: Requires ability to withstand exposure to weather conditions, dust, engine fumes, and high noise levels.

Physical: Driving a vehicle is the primary duty in this position, extensive periods of sitting are required, standing, stooping and walking. Requires ability to perform hand-over-hand methods of steering vehicles and be able to grip a steering wheel; flexibility of arms is required to safely maneuver all types of coaches and vans, and secure passengers safely for transport. May be required to life or push 150 lbs.; overhead reaching. In the normal course of the day, may be required to push or pull passengers in wheelchairs, which may be very heavy, and to work within some space limitations.
