Job Description:

Do you have a passion for bicycling, transit and walking? Do you enjoy encouraging others to take healthy, environmentally friendly transportation choices? Innovate Memphis is hiring 2-3 Commute Options Ambassadors to talk about transportation choices at worksites and around Memphis. Ambassadors will work as a team to increase transit use, bicycling, vanpool and walking to work and school. The project is funded with a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality

(CMAQ) grant for 18-24 months. The goal is to reduce people driving alone to work. The Commute Options Ambassadors will provide outreach and  communications on Commute Options Travel Demand Management (TDM) Initiative programs. The Ambassadors will talk to employers and commuters about transportation choices, answer their questions, organize events and promotions, and distribute informational materials. Ambassadors will work as a team and independently under direction of the Commute Options Manager and Transportation and Mobility Project Manager. Ideal candidates are responsible, friendly and outgoing self-starters who have a desire to help their community.

Hours include some evenings and weekends, working indoors and outdoors (in various weather), and a combination of office tasks, outreach and events.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Schedule events and engagement opportunities for Commute Options with employers, staff, business associations, community organizations, volunteers, and other organizations and agencies.
  • Make presentations at events and workshops, in formal and informal settings.
  • Lead physical activities such as bike rides, walks, and trips by transit.
  • Attend community events and fairs to promote transportation choices.
  • Engage people from diverse backgrounds, including different cultural backgrounds, income levels, education levels, and types of jobs.
  • Maintain relationships with community and stakeholder groups.
  • Propose ideas about how to get more people taking transit, walking and bicycling.
  • Provide customer service; promptly respond to inquiries and resolve concerns.
  • While on duty, wear a Commute Options uniform (provided by the program) and a bicycling helmet when bicycling to and from events.
  • Represent Innovate Memphis and the Commute Options program in a positive, responsible, professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Have experience bicycling in urban traffic and own a bicycle in good working condition

Desirable Skills, Experience and Knowledge

  • Be proficient in a language other than English (desirable)
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and basic data entry and email
  • Be familiar with social media
  • Have bicycle mechanic skills (desirable)
  • Be able to lift up to 35 pounds, and able to work outdoors all day and in any weather
  • Own an approved bicycling helmet (helmet can be provided)

Salary: Hourly at $12/hour, depending on experience, plus benefits package. Two positions available at 25 to 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate.
Able to communicate and understand the English language per DOT requirements.
Must possess current Class A – C.D.L.

Must be at least 24 years of age.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds, a minimum of 50 times per day.

Position Summary:
Overton Park Conservancy seeks a Visitor Services Coordinator to support the Conservancy’s mission and goals by providing extensive customer service to park visitors and supporters. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Visitor Services Coordinator will promote programs and support needs of park visitors wishing to host or participate in events and activities in Overton Park.
This position is part-time with flexible hours, with the possibility of expanding to full-time hours.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Act as ambassador to Overton Park to promote community programs, rentals, and events.
• Coordinate the permit process for special events and facility rentals, from responding to calendar and rate inquiries to accepting final payment and closing out files.
• Conduct proactive outreach to park visitors, neighbors, local businesses and organizations to educate them about the park’s amenities and programs.
• Support the Conservancy’s signature fundraising event, A Day of Merrymaking, by coordinating communications with vendors, volunteers, committee members and staff.
• Support the Conservancy’s volunteer program by coordinating communications with prospective and existing volunteers, and staff.
• Support the Conservancy’s membership program by coordinating membership fulfillment and proactively communicating with members.
• Assist with outreach, planning, set-up, execution, tear-down and close-out of a variety of volunteer and fundraising activities hosted by the Conservancy.

Job Summary:  Greet families visiting the organization and provide supervision for children in the child care areas, maintaining organizational standards, preparation of reports and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides welcome, referral and orientation for clients and families.
    • Welcome children and their families who come to the organization for services.
    • Work closely with direct service providers, linking children and adults with appropriate staff.
    • Provide agency orientation for new client families.
  • Provide trauma-informed care and engagement for children while parent(s) are meeting with staff and service providers.
  • Monitor and maintain the child play areas for safety and appearance per organization standards.
  • Assists receptionist with monitoring children in lobby play area.
  • Complete required reports, documentation and data entry.

  • Handles client and office grocery ordering, pickup, stocking, inventorying, reporting, and maintenance of break room, following required standards.
  • Serves as backup for Receptionist, handling clients, visitors and telephone calls.

The Metal Museum in Memphis, TN seeks temporary assistance with a digitization project involving the slide archives of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG). The Digital Archive Assistant will work with the Registrar to upload images and metadata to a digital repository hosted through the American Craft Council’s Library Digital Collections database. Candidates must be available 15 hours per week sometime between 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Prescribing metadata and managing content in the ACC’s CONTENTdm digital repository
  • Complete and accurate data entry within a pre-defined format and style
  • Making use of controlled vocabulary resources to enter data into subject fields
  • Communication regularly with the Registrar as to concerns, issues, and progress on tasks

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited Master’s Degree program in Art History, Museum Studies, Library and Information Sciences, or a closely related field
  • 1 – 3 years previous metadata/meta-tagging experience, preferably within a museum or library environment
  • Knowledge of digital image files and formats
  • Experience using controlled vocabularies and/or tagging in data creation
  • Careful attention to detail and strong organizational skills

DEFINITION:

Assists in the collection, processing, shipping, and security of all fare box revenues and the operation, cleaning and maintenance for all associated equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Count fare box revenues manually and using jet sort coin machine and jet scan currency machine. Prepare for the transportation of revenues to the bank.
  •  Exchange fare box vaults and deposit revenue into receiver units utilizing a forklift.
  •  Provide security for the Coin Room and fare collection equipment.
  •  Operate revenue collection equipment, including probes and fare boxes.
  •  Assist with inventory of revenue and service vehicles.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School diploma or GED required.

 

Other:

Must be able to operate a forklift. Must possess basic math skills and be able to use a calculator. Must be bondable and be able to pass a background security check. Requires ability to handle numerous activities at one time. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Environment:

Extensive standing and walking are required in the course of a normal day. May be required to lift and carry 50 lbs; overhead lifting and reaching. Requires the ability to withstand exposure to weather conditions, dust, engine fumes, toxic chemicals and extreme noise levels. Must be able to climb in and out of buses in order to insert and remove the boxes in the fare box in 30 seconds. Requires ability to hear telephone and directions given, distinguish equipment problems associated with troubleshooting repairs and visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance.

 

Miscellaneous:

Must be flexible to work shift hours and days as assigned including weekends. Work record of current employees will be reviewed for satisfactory job performance.
