Girl Scouts Heart of the South Seeks Regional Program Specialist

 

Girl Scouts Heart of the South is seeking a Regional Program Specialist to facilitate relevant, well executed outcomes based programs that aid in membership growth and retention in Memphis and surrounding areas.

Brief Summary:

  • Provide leadership and direction in the delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership program to girl members and volunteers in specific geographic areas.
  • Cultivate community partnerships and volunteer relationships within specific geographic areas.
  • Promote Girl Scouts Heart of the South through council-sponsored events and activities while advancing Girl Scouts Heart of the South’s commitment to diversity.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and related experience in child/youth development, program planning and implementation. The candidate should possess great oral and written communication skills and be able to facilitate and coordinate implementation of Girl Scout programs. The candidate should have current knowledge of troop and girl activities which includes the un-served and underserved populations. The candidate should be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes some nights and weekends. A valid driver’s license, use of one’s own vehicle and a good driving record is also required. The candidate must also possess excellent time management and good organizational skills. Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.

Position Title:  Program Specialist/Department of                   Children’s Services(DCS) Liaison Department:  The Memphis Strong Families Initiative (MSFI)
Status:  Full-time, Non-Exempt Location: Memphis
Salary: Commensurate with Education and Experience

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The goal of the Memphis Strong Families Initiative is to improve the safety, permanency, and well-being of Memphis’ most vulnerable children and families through a sustainable model of inter-agency/organization communication, collaboration, and coordinated service delivery. The DCS Liaison is responsible for the overall linkage between the Department of Children’s Services (DCS) and the Emergency Housing Partnership (housing programs). 

DCS Liaison duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist DCS staff in understanding eligibility requirements for the Memphis Strong Families Initiative (MSFI).
  • Actively recruit appropriate families by reaching out to case management staff.
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide required reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Analyze data to ensure targets are being met.
  • Keep clinical director apprised of all aspects of program activities.
  • Provide technical advice and interpretations of policy and procedures.
  • Conduct on-site visits to ensure departmental goals and expected outcomes are achieved.
  • Plan and conduct training programs for DCS staff and MSFI partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in the field of social work or behavioral science.
  • Minimum 3 years of related professional work experience. Experience with DCS (foster care or CPS) preferred.
  • Must possess an exceptional knowledge of community resources, particularly for homeless families.
  • Must authorize the release of any investigative and criminal records obtained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to the Tennessee Community Services Agency.  Background investigation must indicate no conviction of a felony.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours/days.
  • Must have reliable transportation and automobile insurance.
