Position Summary:

 

The Church Health Center of Memphis a not for profit organization, has an opening for a fulltime Team Teacher in its Perea Pre-school program.  This position provides quality care and education to preschool children per the High Scope Educational Foundation Curriculum and Research Program; The Developmentally Appropriate Practice Guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children; and the Tennessee State Department of Human Services.

 

The pay range for this position falls between approximately $28,000 to the low $30,000’s.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Functions:

The position responsibilities comprise of the above mentioned tasks and include:

 

–   Implement basic education concepts via the use of High Scope

Curriculum (includes conflict resolution and teacher-child interaction)

–   Complete the High Scope Child Observation (COR) assessment at least twice a year

–   Compose anecdotal notes on children’s’ activities; enter them daily into children’s records; and plan

daily activities using anecdotal notes

–   Conduct parent-teacher conferences twice a year and parent meetings as appropriate throughout

the year

–   Interpret and communicate each child’s progress within framework of curriculum to parents to assist

family members improve their understanding of their child; and enhance parental skills

–   Participate in building support networks for families by providing opportunities to interact with staff,

other families, community resources, and professional services

–   Prepare daily lesson plans, monthly newsletter, as well as plan and conduct field trips

 

Education/Experience Requirements:

The qualified candidate must have:

 

–          A Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Early Childhood Education, Child & Family Development or a related field

–          A minimum of two years experience in early childhood development with experience in family interaction and involvement

Special Skills & Knowledge:

Candidate should possess the following skills/knowledge to expertly perform in this position:

The Church Health Center of Memphis has an opening for a fulltime Floater Teacher in itsPereaPre-school program.  This position serves two purposes: Fill in for absent team teachers by providing quality care and education to preschool children per the High Scope Educational Foundation Curriculum and Research Program; The Developmentally Appropriate Practice Guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children; and the Tennessee State Department of Human Services. The Floater Teacher also provides support to team teachers in the daily preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and snacks to the children as well as the after-meal cleanup.
