Roberts bought the Mississippi and Memphis operations of Carey-Reed Company, a company started by Mr. Roberts’ brother in law in 1907.  The new Lehman-Roberts Company located their first asphalt plant and office on Front Street in downtown Memphis.  The headquarters were moved to the current address at 1111 Wilson in 1943.  In 1971, the company became affiliated with Memphis Stone and Gravel Company through common ownership.

Still a family owned business, Patrick Nelson leads as President in our dedication to the manufacturing of quality hot mix asphalt and the superior placement of that pavement.  Anchoring our company’s efforts are the core values of stewardship, continuous improvement, humility and relationships. With manufacturing facilities throughout West Tennessee and North Mississippi, Lehman-Roberts Company specializes in construction projects ranging from commercial parking lots to miles of interstate highway paving throughout the Mid-South.

 

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY:   QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER

Position Summary:

Duties will include QC testing, research, plant production guidance and assistance in development of all products. The ideal candidate will be organized, goal orientated, self-directed, with the ability to handle the supervision of several technicians and research projects with minimal supervision or supplied information.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, operations management or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in quality control, mix design, and testing of aggregates and asphalt hot mix production

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • ASTM/AASHTO testing procedures
  • Maintenance and/or gaining of TN, MS, and AR DOT QC & Mix Design Certifications
  • BS in Engineering with Professional Engineering Licensure is strongly preferred
  • Portland Cement Concrete testing and design experience is a plus but not necessary

Similar industry chemist or lab managers may be considered. Competitive salary and excellent benefit package including health insurance, dental, vision, life, long term disability, 401k, and profit sharing.

Core Functions:

  • Supervision of QC technician’s schedules and responsibilities
  • Management of proper equipment/facility maintenance, certifications, calibrations, and safety within multiple QC laboratories
  • Oversight of raw material and finished product testing in accordance with specified DOT, AASHTO, and ASTM standards
  • Coordination between our QC Department and our Construction and Customer Sales Departments
  • Management of thorough and documented communications between our company and our customer’s quality assurance representatives
  • Participation and leadership within our companies’ Continuous Improvement and Safety Initiative Programs

Supervise and work in the lab prepping and performing tests on cylinders, cores, and raw materials to meet specified requirements.

All other duties may be assigned.

The Area Facility Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of facility management for Memphis and Southaven area DC’s are completed timely and in a cost effective manner, while maintaining a positive and safe work environment. Accountability includes but are not limited to achieving objectives for cost, overseeing maintenance schedules including the preventative maintenance schedules, general repairs,, other contracted services and maintaining daily work orders. Duties also include documenting operational procedures and establishing standards for productivity, while utilizing operational and management skills to develop the maintenance team.

Responsibilities

·         Creates a positive environment that promotes continuous improvement and collaborative effort.

·         Establish clear direction, which leads to effective teamwork.

·         Provide timely feedback to team and senior management to ensure the buildings operate within an established budget.

·         Interact effectively with clients, employees and senior management.

·         Ensures awareness of goals and shares results with team members.

·         Maintain a cost effective inventory supply of spare parts and materials for the all building systems and equipment.

·         Plan, direct and implement operations to support productivity and service related goals

·         Coach and mentor non-exempt associates, conduct performance evaluations and ensure adherence to policy and procedures.

·         Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs, making notes and recommendations.

·         Oversee minor electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.

·         Manager minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., replacement or repair of leak in drains  and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).

·         Direct minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).

·         Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools.

·         Maintains and repairs various furniture and structures (e.g. chairs, desk, tables, small appliances, etc.) to ensure maximum life of equipment.

·         Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs, making notes and recommendations.

·         Order parts and coordinator with external vendors and maintain required documents

·         Performs other work related duties as assigned

 

 Qualifications:

·         High School diploma or equivalent, required

·         Bachelor’s degree, preferred

·         5+ years of previous maintenance support experience in a similar environment

·         EPA Certification, preferred

·         Physically capable to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted Computer skills in MS Office

·         Must be able to work independently with little supervision, as well as work in a team.

·         Professional communication skills required

Experience:

Create and produce promotional spots for all web platforms. Create compelling and innovative graphics that command attention for news promotions and the station brand. This position is also responsible for dubbing and transferring commercial spots for playback on air.

Must be a creative and conceptional writer. Experience editing in Adobe Premiere is required. Must have extensive experience with After Effects and Photoshop. Must have ability to edit using non-linear editing software and have experience with graphic design. Please be able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure. Candidate must be a good communicator, organized and most importantly a team player.

Position Responsibilities
Ensure building & grounds are always welcoming, safe, maintained, stocked and clean.
Pro-actively inspect and address maintenance issues and normal scheduled maintenance.
Identify, recruit/hire and manage a roster of contractors, employees and volunteers for short & long term maintenance of the building and grounds.
Work alongside all teams to ensure the building & grounds are clean, prepared and set-up to facilitate excellent ministry throughout the week and weekend.
In conjunction with church leadership and staff, manage the third-party contractor process including spec development, competitive bidding, contracting, work execution and successful completion of projects.
Be on-call for facility needs and emergencies.

Personal Qualifications

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
General knowledge of building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and custodial skills
Service-oriented self-starter; personal integrity and dependability; warm, friendly and service-oriented philosophy
Ability to engage in physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, including ability to lift 75 lbs.
High degree of flexibility and tolerance for change
Reliable transportation
Able to work weekends/nights as required
Background check required
